Machine Tool Technology
Students are introduced to all aspects of a twenty first Century Machine Tool Technology program. Students learn to operate a full range of machine tools. These operations include, drilling, boring, turning, grinding, and milling. Students gain skills in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) using state of the art machines with Master CAM software. They are also introduced to Computer Aided Drafting, using AutoCad. The course emphasizes hands-on application and machine tool theory, which are necessary for successful employment in the industry.
The Machine Tool Technology department is equipped with lathes, milling machines, grinder and an E.D.M. machine. New machinery includes two SL-20 Haas CNC lathes with multi-station tool changers, one with a bar feeder and one with lie tooling. Two VFOE vertical machining centers with multi-position tool changers and Renishaw probing. Also one HSIR Haas horizontal machining center. Machine tool graduates are needed to program, setup operate and supervise precision machine tools.
