Sheet Metal

Worcester Technical High School and the Sheet Metal Program provide students with the training and skills needed for employment in a challenging and rewarding trade in addition to earning a full high school diploma.  Shop and related classroom training experiences detailing Layout, Fabrication, Erection, Installation and Maintenance are incorporated in a full trade curriculum.

Steel, aluminum, copper, and other materials are used to produce Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation systems.  Also, students are taught the skills needed to produce Kitchen Equipment, Architectural Sheet Metal Work, Furniture, etc. Safety is taught as part of the curriculum with emphasis on the proper operation and use of hand tools, as well as machines such as Brakes, Shears, and Roll Equipment. Both the safety and operational training curriculum are designed to meet the commercial standards of industry. Memberships in VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America), where students attend workshops and seminars and integrate with students from other schools, is available. VICA students compete against other school on projects in their discipline. Students integrate between academic and vocational areas on an ongoing basis.

Program Summary

Opportunities

Memberships in skills USA/VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) Students attend workshops and seminars and integrate with students with students from other schools. Students compete against other schools on projects and their discipline.

Senior Work Program

The co-op program for qualifying senior’s match’s seniors with local contractors to provide valuable career experiences that enhances employment opportunities.
