On April 7, 2011, Sheila Harrity, Principal, Peter Crafts, Director of Vocational/Technical Education, and Ted Coghlin, Chairman of the General Advisory Committee, for Worcester Technical High School (WTHS) were in our Nation's Capitol for the "College- and Career- Ready Students: The Role of School Leaders" event.
The event centered on a discussion about the role of school leaders in ensuring that all students leave high school ready for success in college, careers, and civic life.
Ms. Harrity presented on the recent Breakthrough School Award that recognizes middle/high schools that are high achieving or dramatically improving student achievement while serving large numbers of those students most at risk of dropping out.
WTHS was, one of five high schools and the only technical school, recognized nationally that has exemplified the core areas of collaborative leadership, personalization, and access to a rigorous and differentiated curriculum for all students.
