Telecom Students Pass the A+

Telecom Students Pass the A+ Certification Tests

All three students that qualified for the Skyline Technical Fund sponsorship of the Industry certifications testing have passed their tests:

Mitchell Monserrate   A+ Certification (200-601 & 220-602)
Jeffrey Danso                 A+ Certification (200-601 & 220-602)
Christopher Davis         A+ Certification (200-601: A+ Essentials)

To earn the current CompTIA A+ certification, candidates must pass 2 exams: the "CompTIA A+ Essentials" (220-601) exam as well as one of three job-role specific exams. Candidates may choose among the CompTIA A+ IT Technician exam (220-602), the CompTIA A+ Remote Support Technician exam (220-603), or the CompTIA A+ Depot Technician exam (220-604). The cost is $168.00 per test. The students need two tests to be fully A+ certified. The most common path is to take the CompTIA A+ Essentials exam and then take the A+ IT Technician exam. Both are tested in a center close to the Greendale Mall in Worcester.

Telecom students who already hold the A+ certification can sit for the CISCO CCENT exam. The 640-822 Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) is the exam associated with the Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician certification and a tangible first step in achieving the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) v1.0 course. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills required to successfully install, operate, and troubleshoot a small branch office network. The exam includes topics on networking fundamentals; connecting to a WAN; basic security and wireless concepts; routing and switching fundamentals; the TCP/IP and OSI models; IP addressing; WAN technologies; operating and configuring IOS devices; configuring RIPv2, static and default routing; implementing NAT and DHCP; and configuring simple networks

The Skyline Technical Fund is willing to help our students attain their A+ certification. The students  can sit for either the 220-601, the 220-602 or 640-822 test.

To qualify for the pre-paid test, students must demonstrate proficiency by scoring at least 90% success on a shop scheduled practice test.

The next round qualifying tests are scheduled for the first two weeks in May. Students in Z week shop will test Friday, May 1. Students in Z week will qualify on Friday, May 8. Expect the  exam at the testing center in June 09.
