SHOP PROFILE

Welcome to Mr. Casavoy's Website!  Mr. Casavoy is the Department Head of the Welding and Metal Forming Technology Department. My function is to maintain the departments growth and learning environment and to take care of the needs of the students and the  equipment

The primary goal of the Welding Shop is to provide the education necessary to become an entry level welder.

Qualifications and certifications standards are based on the AWS_American Welding Society guidelines and the VTE Curriculum Frameworks.

My first responsibility is to ensure the  safety of all student s in the shop setting. To insure a safe and healthful work enviornment in which the welding students can thrive.

Another improtant function is  to instruct the students in the related theory portion of the their welding trade. Instruction are based on the Frameworks that were implemented by the  Departments of Education. Subject that the students are exposed to are Safety and health related to industry standards. Technical subject that are pertinent. Some of the subjects that will be covered are: shop safety, math including fractions, reading ruler, welding machine set up, blueprint reading and symbols, and instruction on the seven major process that are covered in shop.

The frameworks cover safety and health, technical, embedded academics, employability skills, entreprenurship, and computer skills.
