Auto Tech Related Theory Classroom

Automotive Technology-Related Theory

Welcome to Mr. Giguere's website - and high-tech, interactive related theory classroom pictured to the left!

The automotive industry is an exciting, highly technical, and diverse field offering an array of career opportunities. Each of these career paths demand people with a vast field of knowledge and skills, and are able to meet high industry standard set by the National Automobile Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and the Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES), as well as the standards set by the Massachusetts Department of Education. Students enrolled in the Automotive Technology program at WTHS develop these highly sought-after skills through the combination of the extensive experiences they receive in a well equipped, high tech auto shop, the in-depth theoretical instruction they receive in the interactive related theory classroom, and, of course, their own enthusiasm, hard work and dedication.

Working individually or in small groups, learning activities in related theory include hands-on, self-paced computer-based training (CBT) modules, interactive multimedia presentations, reading and writing assignments as well as research and other projects and presentations. Topics covered in related theory correspond as closely as possible to the topics being covered in the auto shop. Related theory classes meet one period per day during academic week throughout each of the four years of the program.

WTHS automotive technology students participate in many competitive events including those sponsored by the Massachusetts State Automobile Dealers Association, Skills-USA, and Ford-AAA Skills Competition.
